Deputy Jailer Position: Posted 02/02/2021

  

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, an EOE employer, is accepting applications for a full time Deputy Jailer. This position is for the night shift, 6pm to 6am. Benefits include: night differential, paid holidays, paid vacation, uniforms, duty equipment and medical insurance. 

All applicants must pass a background investigation, be 19 years of age or over, a US citizen, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, be of high moral character and be public oriented (people skills).  NO felony, or serious misdemeanor convictions and be able to obtain jail certification within one year of employment. Must demonstrate personal accountability, ethics and integrity. Be family oriented, have a team mindset and community driven. 

This position is subject to veteran preference in accordance with state law. Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jailer

Minimum Qualifications: In order to be considered for employment, all applicants who would work in direct contact and continuing contact with inmates must meet the following criteria:


  1. Must be a citizen of the United States, and;
  2. Must be a high school graduate or possess a certificate which certifies an educational           development of at least a high school graduation level (GED), and;
  3. Must have a criminal record free of any convictions of crimes punishable by imprisonment in a state or federal penitentiary for a term of one (1) year or more from which a pardon has not been received. At the time of employment, new employees shall be fingerprinted and their fingerprint cards shall be promptly submitted to the Nebraska State Patrol for a criminal history search, and;
  4. Must be nineteen (19) years of age or older.


Salary and Benefits:


  1. Salary: Starting salaries will be based on the facility's established pay scale at the time of employment .
  2. Fringe Benefits: All permanent, full-time personnel will receive the benefits provided by Cheyenne County for its general employees. Benefits include family health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, county retirement, overtime, and uniforms and equipment.


 This position is subject to Veteran's preference pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. 48-227
