Best Practices for Sharing the Road
Med-Return Collection Unit
The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office has obtained a Med-Return drug collection unit. Citizens looking to dispose of excess and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications can now visit the safe and secure permanent drop-off location in the south hall of the courthouse. Properly disposing of excess drugs is everyone's responsibility as a matter of public safety. More than 70 percent of the young people abusing prescription pain relievers get them through friends and family, a statistic that includes raiding the family medicine cabinet. Now Cheyenne County citizens won't have to wait for a specific take-back day to clean out their medicine cabinets. Keep prescription medication away from our children and out of our water supply.
Flag Disposal Box
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office now offers a permanent Flag Disposal Box. Community members are invited to bring old, tattered, or worn American flags and place them in the box for proper, ceremonial retirement.
The respectful and dignified disposal of the American flag is important — it honors the values and service the flag represents. Flags deposited in this box will be collected periodically and retired in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code, through an appropriate and solemn ceremony.
